Thanks to everyone for such great attendance.  This helped in getting some business done.  We covered several discussions but here are the only two rule changes.

  1. Rough fish have been removed from our scoring.  So no more rough fish..
  2. We now allow 3 anglers to a team.  Only 2 can fish on any given night from one boat, but all 3 are official members and can cover a night with a sub of their choosing, and have it scored for their team.
I think this resolves all our main discussions, so we are in good shape.  I really like the 3 person teams, this should make it a lot easier to run a team in the league.

We had many teams pay their entries.  We now have 17 teams in the bass group and 8 in multispecies.  With several more teams saying they are back and several wanting into the Cloquet group we are doing well.

Thanks to everyone for all their discussion and helping make this better each year.

DABL News, MMTS News
MMTS and DABL Mandatory meeting, Monday March 19th, 7:00pm at Mr. D's.

Be sure to pay to reserve your spot in any of our leagues.  We will be working to get the sponsors lined up shortly after this meeting, so please bring any ideas you have for sponsors.

We will discussing the number of nights we fish, meeting any rookie teams, comparing notes on bigger multispecies tournaments, details on the MMTS Classic this year, etc.

Please join us and let's plan for another great year of fishing.

MMTS News
Several people are interested in fishing the Cloquet (Carlton) Area Fishing League this year.  This is a multispecies group and they are only fishing 5 nights (about once a month).  A couple of our guys will be organizing it and it should be a blast.

This group will be fishing waters near Cloquet including the St. Louis River, Big Lake, Chub Lake, Island South, and Sturgeon Lake.

If you are interested in fishing, just let us know and we will get you in touch with them.  We have a tentative schedule posted but the Tournament Director will be finalizing it.  We do have a sponsor, that we will let everyone know about as soon as we finalize it.  But they are very interested in getting involved with us and our leagues.  This should be a lot of fun.

You can contact me at 390-9973 if you want to hear more.  Remember this league is just for fun.  $50/yr per team, that's only $25 a person and you only have 5 nights.  And if you are in the top at the end of year, you qualify to fish the MMTS Classic with the winners from several other leagues.

Good fishing and see ya on the water, I hope its soon.

MMTS News
With bigger Multispecies tournaments to come soon, MMTS is going to have a separate announcements area here.  DABL will have the same on it's main page.  Both will benefit from a bigger audience.  Hopefully this will lead to more people in the forums and sharing fishing information.

Seeking Volunteers:  Any MMTS member that wants to help post announcements, schedule changes, meetings, the results of our tournaments, etc. can contact Doug and he will set you up with that.  We always like volunteers to help run our fishing leagues.

Part of this change is the opportunity of BIGGER Multispecies Tournaments.  We are working on the details right now.  These will be a bit further away, just out of the normal area of lakes and a great way to get others into Multispecies fishing tournaments.  We are getting great feedback and it should be very, very interesting to see the turnouts.  Remember this is where it started, now we can share the great times we have out fishing with others.  I hope some of you check out some of these bigger contests.

DABL Rules, MMTS Rules
No rules are perfect and there are always loopholes...trying to circumvent the rules is just like breaking them. Please use common sense and abide by the unwritten rules of sportsmanship at all times. Don't do anything to anyone else that you would not want done to yourself.
Maintain a good image among all other anglers, you represent a very visible group and as such have a responsibility to demonstrate the best, not the worst of our natures.
Tight lines and have fun fishing!

Our Bass and Multispecies Fishing Leagues are looking good and will be running full groups this year, so get your entry fees to our treasurer, Rick Olson of the Old Farts to reserve a spot.

We have had 15 teams say they want to fish the Duluth Area Bass League and at least as many multispecies teams. So see that you pay soon. We are working on sponsors right now, then we will see how many teams we have and determine how many multispecies groups to run this summer.

Our Bass league, the Duluth Area Bass League is full and the Multispecies group is almost full. First to pay, gets to fish this year.

Season is less than two weeks off and fishing league less than three weeks.

Good fishing and be careful on the water.

Leagues start in just days now. Both our bass and multispecies leagues have met our targets and are ready to go. We are picking up the certificates and trophies for the bass group to have them on hand.

The DNR tournament permits are in hand and all approved. We discussed all questions with the DNR and we are a go on all counts. If we get a few extra teams this year on some nights or all, no problem. I doubt we will average over 15 teams a night, all nights, but that would be a good thing.
